{"id":277,"date":"2014-12-10T10:26:05","date_gmt":"2014-12-10T16:26:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.e-systems.net\/news\/?p=277"},"modified":"2014-12-10T10:26:05","modified_gmt":"2014-12-10T16:26:05","slug":"2014-college-football-pool-overall-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.e-systems.net\/news\/2014-college-football-pool-overall-results\/","title":{"rendered":"2014 College Football Pool &#8211; Overall Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s time for the awards!\u00a0 Our biggest congratulations go to the winner of the 2014 e-Systems College Football Pool:<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">AUBrian<\/h1>\n<p><strong>AUBrian<\/strong> finished the season with 2,212 points.\u00a0 For the first time since I\u2019ve been keeping records, there was a tie for overall second place between <strong>JagRag<\/strong> and <strong>maestro<\/strong>; each finished with 2,206 points.\u00a0 Congratulations to all three for their great performances!\u00a0 All three will receive special prizes for their accomplishment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AUBrian<\/strong> won by scoring consistently high throughout the year; he only finished below tenth in a week four times.\u00a0 Starting week nine, he never finished below tenth in an individual week.\u00a0 <strong>AUBrian<\/strong> also has the distinction of becoming a back-to-back overall champion, having also won last year, and dare I say has established a dynasty, having won three times since 2010. Congratulations to <strong>AUBrian<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cnumber of games picked correctly\u201d category, <strong>gatorbamalover<\/strong> finished first, with 213 games correct.\u00a0 <strong>Liquid Heat<\/strong> and <strong>maestro<\/strong> tied for second, with 212, and <strong>JG Bama<\/strong> had 210 games picked correctly.\u00a0 Great job!<\/p>\n<p>The first half of the game (weeks 1-8) was won by <strong>JagRag<\/strong> (1,296 points), and the second half (9-15) by <strong>AUBrian<\/strong> (928 points). Nicely done!<\/p>\n<p>There were three multiple-week winners this year: <strong>GODAWGS<\/strong> (weeks 3, 11, and 12); <strong>JHutto<\/strong> (weeks 8 and 9); and <strong>Liquid Heat<\/strong> (weeks 13 and 15).\u00a0 Good job!\u00a0 Other weekly winners were <strong>Mayhalls picks <\/strong>(1), <strong>Rudy Ruettiger<\/strong> (2), <strong>LPosey<\/strong> (4), <strong>gatorbamalover<\/strong> (5), <strong>The Tradition<\/strong> (6), <strong>Allison<\/strong> (7), <strong>bamaken<\/strong> (10), and <strong>Crimson Gator<\/strong> (14).\u00a0 Congratulations to all of the weekly winners!<\/p>\n<p>You might remember that I mentioned new categories that I would be keeping track of this year, and so here are the winners!<\/p>\n<p>The first is the tiebreaker award.\u00a0 You know how every week we have to pick the total score of the last game as a tiebreaker?\u00a0 We kept track of who was closest overall in all of the tiebreaker choices, and the winner (with only 162 points in 15 weeks) is <strong>The Tradition<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>The next award is the \u201cagainst the grain\u201d award.\u00a0 This title goes to the picker who amassed the most points by picking games correctly that a vast majority of the pickers that week missed.\u00a0 An example from this past week was Ohio State over Wisconsin; only 2 of the 20 pickers chose Ohio State; each put one point on the game, so each added one point to their total for getting that game right.\u00a0 The winner of this title is <strong>TheAUone<\/strong>, who scored 21 points in four correct \u201cagainst the grain\u201d picks!<\/p>\n<p>Everyone will receive a prize for participating this year! If you aren\u2019t sure that we have your current mailing address for shipping, please respond to my e-mail that was sent today and we will update our records.<\/p>\n<h2>How Did We All Do?<\/h2>\n<p>Picks: 5,188 \/ 6,605 (78.547%)<br \/>\nPoints: 54,623 \/ 63,945 (85.422%)<br \/>\nBest Week as a Group: week 1 (619 \/ 660 picks \u2013 93.788%; 7,390 \/ 7,590 points \u2013 97.365%)<br \/>\nSix weeks with over 80% of picks correct<br \/>\nFive weeks with over 90% of possible points gained<br \/>\nNo \u201cPerfect\u201d weeks; thanks a lot, South Carolina! They were the sole blemishes in 27 otherwise-perfect weeks thanks to their losses in week 1 (21) and in week 5 (6)!<br \/>\n\u201cAll but 1 game right\u201d weeks: 33<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of all of us at e-Systems, thank you again for participating in our 11<sup>th<\/sup> annual College Football Pool. College football season is always a great time of the year, and we hope that this pool makes keeping up with the teams and the games even more fun and exciting! \u00a0I hope that all of you will join us again in 2015, when we\u2019ll do it all again!
